New Jeanette MacDonald/Nelson Eddy magazines!
For the upcoming June MacDonald/Eddy event in Los Angeles, I’ve written two very extensive Journals of the Mac/Eddy magazine. Issue #79 covers the 90th anniversary of Naughty Marietta, the first of their films, and how Nelson became an overnight movie star. This issue also includes the our two interviews with child star Cora Sue Collins, who was the last surviving actor from that movie. She provides a no-holds-barred discussion of her experiences at MGM during the years Jeanette and Nelson were there, dealing with similar problems. Issue #80 covers the early years of researching the Jeanette and Nelson story, along with some of my very early interview notes and unpublished book excerpts from a woman who knew Nelson in the second half of 1951, a time when he and Jeanette seemed to be permanently broken up. There is some new information to be had, providing more details than what I could cover in Sweethearts.
